I’m back, again, and Radieuse

You may have noticed the absence of new posts over the past thirty days or so, BUT I CAN EXPLAIN.

It's not that I've given up on The Daily Typographic.

I just had a very tight deadline to finish my fourth novella in the Summertale horror/comedy series and I really had to give it my all. The book is out now, so a return to our usual schedule here is in order.

But this is not just a post full of cheap excuses; I'll also be looking into the austere, brutalist delights of Radieuse Mono, a typeface so brutalist and so mono it reminded me of a brutal bout of mono I had when I was younger.

It is also quite expanded, which also reminds me of the time I had some mushrooms that expanded my perception and had me running around the town wearing nothing but my boxers on my head.

The typeface is free for both personal and commercial use, and comes in one weight/style. Amazingly for a free font, it also contains some ligatures, symbols and even fractions.

Where do you use such a thing?

Not body text, that's for sure. However, in large display sizes I can totally see it being used in electronic music festival posters, serial number-based packaging and even book covers.
